Cannabis Tea Recipe
Ingredients:
1 gram of decarboxylated cannabis (or more, depending on desired potency)
1 cup water
1 tablespoon coconut oil, butter, or another fat source (to help extract the cannabinoids)
Tea bag of your choice (optional)
Honey, sugar, or other sweeteners to taste (optional)
Equipment:
Saucepan
Strainer or cheesecloth
Teapot or mug
Instructions:
Decarboxylate the Cannabis:
Preheat your oven to 245°F (120°C).
Break up the cannabis into small pieces and spread it evenly on a baking sheet.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. The cannabis should be golden brown. This process activates the THC and CBD in the cannabis.
Boil Water:
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a saucepan.
Add Fat Source:
Add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, butter, or another fat source to the boiling water. This step is crucial because cannabinoids are fat-soluble, and the fat helps to extract them from the cannabis.
Add Cannabis:
Once the fat has melted and mixed with the water, add the decarboxylated cannabis to the saucepan.
Simmer:
Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Strain:
After simmering, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a teapot or mug, separating the liquid from the plant material.
Optional: Add Tea Bag:
If you prefer, you can add a tea bag of your choice to the strained cannabis tea for additional flavor. Let it steep for a few minutes according to the tea’s instructions.
Sweeten to Taste:
Add honey, sugar, or other sweeteners to taste if desired.
Notes:
Dosage: Start with a small amount of cannabis and see how it affects you before increasing the dosage.
Storage: Leftover cannabis tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat before drinking.
Effects: The onset of effects from cannabis tea may be slower compared to smoking or vaping, typically taking 30 minutes to 2 hours to feel the effects.
Enjoy your cannabis tea responsibly and ensure it is clearly labeled and stored away from children and pets.
